Position
Permanent position as Senior Lecturer in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine combined with employment as a specialist physician/consultant at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö.
Work duties
The work duties include teaching, research and clinical activities, and participation in management groups at the Faculty of Medicine. One important part of the work duties includes teaching on the Medical Programme. The holder of the position is also expected to be prepared to assume leadership responsibility within the Medical Programme, primarily in anesthesiology, intensive care medicine and critical emergency management, but other general tasks may also be relevant. The Medical Programme currently has operations in Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg and clinical placements at other hospitals. The holder of the position should therefore be prepared for work duties being placed at more than one location. The holder of the position is also expected to teach in the first, second and third cycles within the faculty’s various study programmes.
The holder of the position is expected to lead high-level research within anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine, while prompting colleagues and doctoral students to undertake local collaboration that further develops the department’s broad operations. These efforts are to take place in close cooperation with other research teams at Lund University and Skåne University Hospital, and preferably in national and international research environments.
The position may also include internal and/or external elected office. Other duties may be included in the position.
Qualification requirements
In accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 4, a person is eligible to be appointed as senior lecturer if they have demonstrated research expertise and been awarded a doctoral degree or have the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the position and the duties that it will involve.
Teaching expertise is also required. According to the Lund University Appointment Rules, the applicant must have completed training in teaching and learning in higher education of at least five weeks or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way in order to be eligible, unless there are special grounds. If the holder of the position is deemed to have special grounds for not having completed training in teaching and learning in higher education of at least five weeks at the time of taking up the position, they shall complete such training within two years of starting the position.
Swedish language skills of at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s Framework of Reference for Languages is required. The applicant must be a licensed physician and a specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine.
Assessment criteria
The applicant must demonstrate teaching, research, administrative and clinical skills of significance for the subject. During the assessment, equal weight will be accorded to teaching and research expertise.
The applicant is to demonstrate teaching expertise of relevance to the subject within both teaching and supervision in first, second and third-cycle education.
The applicant is to demonstrate research expertise by their own current research in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine being conducted at a high national or international level.
The applicant is also to demonstrate proven leadership ability, capacity for cooperation and the ability to collaborate with wider society.
Having the qualifications of an associate professor, teaching experience, an international network, academic and/or clinical leadership experience and being in receipt of major funding obtained in national or international competition and having experience of clinical work in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine are desirable. In the appointment, special attention will be accorded to teaching and research development potential.
For teaching staff at Lund University, the general qualification requirements concern being suitable for and having the ability in general that is needed to satisfactorily carry out the duties of the appointment in question. In addition to the Higher Education Ordinance, the following apply to the appointment of teaching staff: Lund University Appointment Rules and the Faculty of Medicine’s general requirements profile and assessment criteria for the appointment of a Senior Lecturer.
