Description of the workplace
You will be working at the department of Electrical and Information technology, and primary in the divisions of Communications engineering and Integrated electronic systems. These two divisions are closely working together to develop the next generation wireless systems, from theory to practice. Project assistants will participating in EU project BEYOND5 (Building the fully European supplY chain on RFSOI, enabling New RF Domains for Sensing, Communication, 5G and beyond, https://www.kdt-ju.europa.eu/projects/beyond5) and SSF-CHI project “Large Intelligent Surfaces – Architecture and Hardware”.

Work duties
As a teaching assistant your duties can vary, and the tasks should give an insight into the academic world at the faculty where you conduct studies. The tasks in this position includes participation in research projects. The area is effective hardware implementations for 6G wireless communication, including massive MIMO and Large Intelligent Surfaces. Targeted platforms include Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and software-defined radios (SDR).

Qualifications
Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as a teaching assistant.

Required qualifications:

  • admitted to (relevant) first or second-cycle courses in the department of Electrical and Information Technology.
  • very good oral and written proficiency in English. 
  • good knowledge in wireless communication systems, especially MIMO and Massive MIMO.
  • good knowledge in hardware (e.g., FPGA, RFSoC) implementation of digital signal processing algorithms and software-defined radios (SDR).

Additional requirements:

  • experience of development tools for digital platforms (especially FPGA RFSoC, and SDR).
  • experience of development tools for wireless communication systems implementation and prototyping, with PYNQ (Python for Zynq FPGA).

Further information
The position is a fixed term position for 4-month period at 45 per cent of full time and starting in 2023-04-01 or by agreement, although not beyond 2023-07-31. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§.
