Description of the workplace
Protein Structure and Bioinformatics group investigates genetic and other variations and their effects on DNA, RNA and protein, on structural, functional and other levels. We have developed several of the most reliable variation effect predictors as PON-P2 and PON-All for variant pathogenicity, PON-Sol and PON-Stab for molecular effects and PON-mt-tRNA and PON-BTK for molecule-specific predictions. We use and develop bioinformatic methods to reveal the significance of the variants especially in the relation of diseases.

About the project

This post-doctoral project is part of the DEEPEN-iRBD consortium funded by ERA Permed (EU) that aims at defining a model for early risk stratification, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD). In this position you will implement pathogenicity model for the condition for diagnostic and prognostic purposes.

Work duties and responsibilities

A predictive computer model will be developed based on clinical information from our collaborators. The project consists of organisation and harmonization of clinical data, development of measures for the model, impelementation of the model, its testing and validation with patient data.

Qualifications

Requirements 

  • Candidate should have a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology or on a related field
  • Background in statistics required.
  • Knowledge in programming, databases and data analysis
  • Excellent skills in oral presentation and good writing skills
  • Expertise on working in Unix/Linux environments
  • Programming skills, preferably on Python

The successful candidate should have experience within some of the following areas:

  • Competences within medical statistics and statistical programming, preferably in R
  • Expertise in genomic data analysis

We are now looking for a assistans researcher in bioinformatics. The position is full-time for 1 year according to a central agreement on temporary employment  The desired start date is May 1, 2023 or by agreement.
