Subject description

The subject covers the basics of architecture in the form of architectural design in relation to different perspectives such as place and context, aesthetics and artistry, use and social conditions, technology and materials. The subject also includes the communication of architecture via various media such as sketches, drawings, models, etc., as well as the creative processes that lead to a design proposal.

 

Work duties

Detailed description of the work duties, such as:

  • Teaching in the first and second cycles of studies, mainly in the studios in the first two years of the Programme of Architecture.
  • Supervision of degree projects to a lesser extent.
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society in the context of teaching.
  • Development of the pedagogical competence within the position.
  • Some course administration in cooperation with colleagues.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

 

Qualification requirements

Appointment as a lecturer requires that the applicant has:

  • Completed a second-cycle degree or acquired corresponding knowledge and has other skills of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.
  • Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

 

Additional requirements

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish and English.
  • Masters degree in Architecture.
  • Experience of working as a practicing architect after an architectural degree.

 

Assessment criteria

For appointments to lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • Good subject knowledge of relevance to the post and the duties it will involve.
  • Good teaching ability including a good ability to develop and pursue teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Very good professional experience or other experience of relevance to the post.

 

Other assessment criteria

A documented interest in and aptitude for theoretical reflection on architecture and/or the architect's role. Interest in developing the pedagogy of architecture. Familiarity with the commonly used digital tools and programs of architectural design. Experience of studio teaching.

 

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

 

Further information

This is a temporary position of 50 percent of full time until 2023-12-31 with start 2023-08-01 or according to agreement.
