The Division of Dermatology and Venereology
Schmidtchen lab conducts world-leading research in innate immunity and wound healing, and has long-term support from the Swedish Research Council, which in Nov 2020 ranked the project as No. The focus for the past two decades has been on studies of our innate immunity mechanisms and the development of new therapy concepts for infective-inflammatory diseases – from wound healing to systemic applications. Collaborations with many external and internal stakeholders are ongoing as well. The therapy concepts are developed in collaboration with biotech companies at Medicon Village, Lund. Those who work with the projects in the team include three associate professors/senior researchers, technical personnel, and MDs.

The division is now looking for an Assistant Researcher for a temporary employment for 1 year and with a proposed start date 2023-09-01 or upon agreement.

Work assignments
You will be working in a dynamic environment with translational projects that involve in vivo studies in rodents, using both infection and inflammation models. General microbiome analyses will be an integral part of the projects. Standard microbiology, molecular biology, biochemical studies, and in vitro cell models will be a part of the projects as well as reporting and manuscript writing that will be an important part of the work. Finally, the work will involve interactions with biotech companies at Medicon Village that work with therapy development and clinical trials.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent (in a relevant area for the position).
  • Knowledge and experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and cell biology.
  • Experience in in vivo models (rodents).
  • Skills SDS-PAGE, WB, ELISA, microbiological analyzes, in vivo work.
  • Previous experience from biotech companies and project leadership.
  • Responsibility and ability to manage several projects at the same time.
  • Ability to lead projects independently.
  • The projects will follow schedules and the ability to deliver on time is a priority.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience with work in various animal models
  • Experience from pharmacological studies
  • Previous publications in areas of relevance for the position
  • Experience as supervisor

Research expertise is the primary criterion for employment. In the evaluation
will research profile, experience and knowledge to be considered.

The employment is a fixed-term full-time employment for one year. Appointment 2023-09-01 or as soon as agreed. The employment is limited in time according to Special fixed-term employment (SÄVA).
