The department of Energy Sciences at Lund University, Faculty of Enfineering invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in Heat Transfer with focus on numerical simulation of industrial heat transfer processes.
Description of the workplace
The Department of Energy Sciences conducts research into phenomena, mechanisms, components, processes, and systems with relevance to the energy sector. The research is based on a combination of modeling, numerical simulations, and experimental studies. The department works with a broad range of problems, ranging from industrially relevant research and development to fundamental research into several different fields. Energy Sciences has an extensive network of collaborators, both academic and industrial, national and international. The Department of Energy Sciences is the foundation Organization for the divisions of Fluid mechanics, Combustion Engines, Heat transfer, Thermal Power Engineering and Efficient Energy Systems. The current position is with the Division of Heat transfer.
The Division of heat transfer focuses on single- and multi-phase flows in which thermal processes, such as heat transfer and/or exothermic reactions, play a prominent role. The research is based on a combination of modeling, numerical simulations, and experimental studies. Heat transfer currently coordinates the two competence centers CESTAP, funded by The Swedish Energy Agency and the industry, and AdTherM funded by VINNOVA and the industry. The research covers a wide range of disciplines and cover a wide range of levels, from industrially relevant research and development to fundamental research in different areas of important to the energy transition. The division collaborates extensively with researchers from a variety of fields nationally and internationally.
Going forward, Division of Heat Transfer will consist of 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor and 2 Assistant Professors (this position included), who will collaborate strongly for example through the newly granted Vinnova Competence Centre AdTherM, where the person hired here will be included in the supervision team of several PhD students. Despite the expectation of strong internal collaboration, there is also a need of an independent line-of-research as well as external collaboration.
Subject
Heat Transfer with focus on numerical simulation of industrial heat transfer processes.
Subject description
Numerical simulation of heat transfer in industrial processes such as heating, cooling, fluid flow, boiling, melting, phase-change, and energy recovery, but also thermochemical and electrochemical energy conversion.
