Description of the workplace

Neuroendocrine cell biology has a long-standing project on type 2 diabetes disease mechanisms in pancreatic islet cells. Our single cell RNA seq studies have generated new knowledge that needs to be functionally validated by targeting single genes in relevant model systems and by targeting all genes using a whole genome CRISPR screen. The research group consists of a couple of postdocs and a PhD student and is headed by Nils Wierup. We have a nice and respectful working environment and continuously work on maintaining this atmosphere by sharing feedback to each other and do fun stuff outside of work. We now seek a highly motivated candidate for a research position for studies on a whole genome CRISPR screen, as well as functional studies of selected genes in alpha and beta cell models. 

The position is an 11 months employment for 60-70% with desired start date 2023-11-01 or according to agreement.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

Independently pursue the tasks on a whole genome CRISPR screen, as well as functional studies of selected genes in alpha and beta cell models. Responsible for planning and executing experiments and reporting the data. Other tasks within the research group may arise. 

Qualifications 

Required qualifications are:

-PhD in relevant subject

-Documented experience in whole genome CRISPR screens in beta cells

-Documented expertise in alpha and beta cell models and genetic targeting, and analysis of secretion and transcription in these cells. 

-Excellence in the English language.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The duties require you to be a team player and have good communication kills with other employees in the group.

The position is a fixed term position is an 11 month part time position 60-70% percent.  Desired  starting  date is 2023-11-01 or according to agreement.
