Industrial engineering and management is a technical-economic subject that deals with design, strategy, planning and control, development and economic assessment of industrial operations. The subject is therefore inherently interdisciplinary and covers industrial economics issues of both strategic and operational nature within all types of businesses. In this project, the focus is on digitalization of food supply chains.
The main duties of doctoral students are to devote themselves to their research studies which includes participating in research projects and third cycle courses. The work duties will also include teaching and other departmental duties (no more than 20%).
The work as a doctoral student in this project involves participating in research on circular economy principles and sustainable food supply chains. This research will take place under the supervision of Dr. Sandeep Jagtap, Prof. Andreas Normann and Dr Louise Bildsten. You will be an integral part of a dynamic research group dedicated to sustain-able supply chain practices and digitalization.
You will be involved in the project titled 'Revolutionizing Food Production: Synergizing Industry 5.0 and Carbon Neutrality for a Sustainable Tomorrow.' This project aims to explore the concept of a 'circular economy' applied to the food industry, aligning seamlessly with the principles of Industry 5.0. To assess the environmental impact of food manufacturing operations, our research methodology relies on the theories and methodologies of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
This research project will be carried out in close collaboration with leading food manufacturers actively involved in this transformative process. To gain insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with this transformation, our research will involve a diverse array of stakeholders from the broader community. The project employs a hybrid methodology, combining both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
