The research group Food Hygiene at the Department of Food Technology, Engineering and Nutrition develops methods for identification of bacteria and clarifies the role of these bacteria in food and human health. The research performed in the group has been pioneering in development of probiotics and the group has a close collaboration within both medical care, industry and academia.

The work duties include analysing the composition of the microflora and quantifying selected species in samples from plant-based foods, as well as in samples from clinical and experimental studies. The laboratory work consists of PCR-based methods and data management. Identification of flora composition will be analysed by next generation sequencing and bioinformatics. For quantification of bacterial groups, quantitative PCR will be used. The work duties also include standardized and scaled-up cultivation of probiotic bacteria and optimization of formulation for its survival. The duties furthermore include laboratory assistance in teaching.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Great emphasis will also be placed on how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the scientific work and the research group in which the applicant will work within.
The position is a fixed term position for six months at 100 per cent of full time and starting 2023-11-01 or according to agreement.
