Description of the workplace
At the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, we study the population's exposure to various environmental toxins and evaluate how these affect our health. A postdoctoral position is available at the research group applied mass spectrometry in environmental medicine under the leadership of Christian Lindh, for several large projects around exposure to endocrine disrupting substances, pesticides and PFAS and how these affect the health of children and adults both in Sweden and internationally.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
The research task consists of you independently, under the supervision of the project leaders, carrying out epidemiological analysis of register data.

Furthermore, the duties consist of being responsible for the operation of cohorts, which i.a. involves applying for ethical permissions, organizing sample collection of urine and serum samples, and constructing questionnaires. The work thus means that you need to have a good ability to communicate with research people. You will compile and statistically process analysis data of biomarkers of both persistent and non-persistent organic environmental pollutants from the laboratory at Lund University.

You will publish articles in scientific journals, contribute to conferences and assist in other tasks in the research group. Teaching may occur to some extent. You will also publish articles in research journals, contribute to conferences and assist in the other work duties that the above-mentioned research project entails.

Qualification requirements 
To qualify for the position, the applicant must have a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within a subject relevant for the position (i.e. biology, biomedicine, medicine, chemistry), completed no more than three years before the date of employment decision. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier

Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:

  • The applicant must have university/college education in environmental science, biology, chemistry or corresponding.
  • The applicant must be research competent and have a doctorate in work and
    environmental medicine, or equivalent.
  • Experience with sample collection and ethics application is a requirement.
  • Documented experience in evaluation and compilation of biomarker data is required.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of pesticide and environmental pollution toxicology.
  • Documented ability to independently write reports and publish peer reviewed articles around these subject areas.
  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.
  • Good administrative skills.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Good knowledge of medicine and toxicology.
  • Good knowledge in English.
  • Experience in management and analysis of biomarker data.
  • Experience of communicating with research subjects.
  • Experience in supervision and teaching.
  • Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Further information
The employment is time-limited to 2 years full-time, with the possibility of an extension for 1 more year. The employment is time-limited according to the agreement, "Agreement on limited-time employment as postdoctoral researcher-2022-02-01". Start date is 2024-02-01 or according to agreement.
