Description of the workplace
Within the research group of Clinical Memory Research, research is conducted aimed at defining and understanding biological processes behind Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. We work with cohorts of both patients and cognitively healthy volunteers, who undergo extensive testing with brain imaging, biomarker measurements and neuropsychological testing, as well as animal and cell biology experiments. You can read more about the research here. The research group is led by Professor Oskar Hansson. The position is located at BMC in Lund.

We care about creating a positive, respectful, and stimulating environment. We value communication and collaboration and a workplace that promotes learning and development for all employees. Work duties

Research area
As a project assistant, you will be part of a growing multidisciplinary group of neuroscientists and clinical researchers, working intensively to increase knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases. The long-term goal of our research is to contribute to the development of new treatment methods for neurodegenerative diseases where effective treatments are still lacking.

The employment
The project assistant will focus on neuroimaging and data analysis of fluid biomarkers aimed at developing diagnostic tools and improving our molecular understanding of Alzheimer's disease. An important task will be to better understand different subtypes of Alzheimer's disease based on different distribution patterns of tau pathology. The project assistant will work with data acquired as part of the Swedish BioFINDER 2 study. In this study, 1500 people across the clinical spectrum of Alzheimer's disease (from cognitively normal to dementia) will undergo advanced neuroimaging including tau PET and MRI with both structural and functional sequences. Other tasks within the research group may also be relevant.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • Master's degree in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, bioinformatics, or another relevant field
  • Ability to independently perform large-scale neuroimaging data analyses, including PET and MRI
  • Very good knowledge of statistical modelling, script/programming and neuroimaging software
  • Very good ability to express yourself in English both orally and in writing
  • Good team player with broad competence in the research area

The following is considered meritorious:
