The doctoral programme

The doctoral position focuses studies on the Holocaust and antisemitism and is part of the externally funded research project "In the shadow of genocide: memory and experience of the Holocaust and antisemitism". The project has a Nordic perspective and spans the time 1945 until today. Some research themes within the project are Holocaust as a culture of memory, antisemitism and social media, as well as Jewish refugees and Holocaust survivors in the Nordic countries. However, these themes do not have to be the guiding principles for the applicants' project proposal. The focus of the call, “studies on the Holocaust and antisemitism” should be understood broadly.

The doctoral student is expected to be part of the National Graduate School of Historical Studies.
The National Graduate School of Historical Studies is located at Lund University. Through the Graduate School, doctoral students are able to interact with other doctoral students and academic staff engaged in historical research at Lund University, the University of Gothenburg, Linnaeus University, Malmö University and Södertörn University. About 80 doctoral students and about 100 supervisors are taking part. Subjects included are History, Human Rights, History of Ideas and Sciences, Ethnology, Art History and Visual Studies, Book History, Musicology, Historical Archaeology, and Classical Archaeology and Ancient History.

The National Graduate School is a Swedish speaking PhD programme. Participation requires ability to absorb academic texts as well as discussions in Swedish.
