Description of the workplace
The research group, led by prof. Anna Blom, focuses on innate immunity, especially the complement system, in health and disease. The group consist of research and technical personnel. The workplace is located at the Wallenberg Laboratory in Malmö.

Duties and responsibilities
The project will be carried out within the research group led by Professor Anna Blom. The duties mainly consist of conducting research into new functions of complement proteins of relevance to inflammation. It may also include supervision of students and presentation of results at conference. In addition, other tasks within the research group may become relevant.

 Qualifications
The employment requires:

  • PhD in life sciences or an equivalent subject. A person who holds a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish doctorate is eligible to be employed. 
  • Scientific competence and laboratory experience in the field of inflammation proven by publications in international peer-reviewed journals. 
  • Very good written and verbal skills in English. 
  • Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The applicant should be highly motivated and expected to develop a high degree of independence and contribute creatively to the project. The duties require the ability to collaborate, work independently, and the experience and skills deemed relevant to successfully complete the project. We assume that you have good communications skills and an interest in collaborating with all team members. 

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • PhD degree completed no more than three years before the application deadline. 
  • Very good knowledge of a wide set of methods, including but not limited to: cell culture of primary cells and cell lines, modification of protein expressions in cells by overexpression or downregulation using siRNA/shRNA and CRISPR-Cas 9, isolation of immune cells from blood, flow cytometry, molecular biology techniques such as cloning, DNA and RNA purification, quantitative RT-PCR, luciferase report assays, protein expression in bacteria and eukaryotic cells including purification, protein analyzes including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, microscopy (fluorescence, confocal, proximity ligation assay). 
  • Very good knowledge of statistical analysis of experimental data. 
  • Experience of using relevant computer programs such as FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Affinity (or equivalent) and previous use of electronic lab book for documentation of experimental data. 
  • The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. Special weight will be attached to scientific ability in the subject area. 

Other
The employment is limited to two years and is full-time. Preliminary start date is 2024-09-01 or as agreed. The employment is time-limited according to the agreement, "Agreement on temporary employment as a postdoc", between the labor parties (Arbetsgivarverket, OFR:s, Saco-S och SEKO) daterat 2022-02-01.
