Duties

Work duties include to further develop Gender Studies within feminist, trans- or queer, as well as post/decolonial theory and methodology, and contribute to the interdisciplinary environment. The duties also include conducting research in Gender Studies with a focus on one or more of the division's research themes. The employee should actively contribute to the positive development of the division's research and educational environment. The employee is also expected to actively work on project applications to external funders. The position includes research and competence development corresponding to 20% of an FTE. The position includes teaching, supervision, and examination at undergraduate and advanced levels. All teaching takes place on campus.

Eligibility

The qualification requirements for employment as a senior lecturer are stated in Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment rules for teaching staff at Lund University.

To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, the applicant must have obtained a PhD in Gender studies or equivalent, with a clear relevance to the call.

The eligible applicant has also demonstrated pedagogical proficiency and has the personal qualities required to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position. Applicants must be able to demonstrate documented pedagogical proficiency and teaching experience relevant to the education conducted at the division.

The the holder of the position is expected to be able to teach courses with various theoretical, methodological, and empirical content.

Documented experience of teaching at basic and advanced levels relevant to the education conducted at the division is particularly meritorious. The eligible applicant must have demonstrated pedagogical proficiency and have undergone higher education pedagogical training or have equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate documented scientific proficiency in research with a focus on the division's scientific profile. Having obtained external funds within the last five years is a merit. There is a strong focus on effective collaboration skills. A strong network with the research community in an international context, as well as experiences of interdisciplinarity in teaching and research, are seen as a merit. The holder is expected to master Swedish or another Scandinavian language within two years in a way that enables administration and assessment of written tasks. Opportunities for language lessons in Swedish are available.

Assessment criteria

Upon assessment of the applicants, equal weight will be given to teaching and research expertise. Emphasis is also attached to whether the applicant has a strong national and international level as a researcher, which means good ability to conduct research, lead research projects, and develop research environments. The further assessment will consider publication traditions within the research field where the applicant is active.

When assessing teaching expertise, quality is primarily reviewed but also scope, span and depth is considered. Teaching expertise must be well documented. Special attention will be given to documented experience of pedagogical leadership in initiating, planning, leading, developing, and implementing teaching, as well as documented ability to teach in English and Swedish.

The assessment will also consider whether the applicant has the ability to participate in the supervision of doctoral students in studies leading to a doctoral degree, the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community and inform about their activities, as well as the ability to lead and develop scientific and pedagogical activities at the university level. Special emphasis is placed on collaborative skills with colleagues and external actors as well as the ability to contribute to a positive development of teaching and research at the division. Since the position involves a lot of teaching with significant contact with students and other employees and the division is small, we place great importance on your personal qualities.
