We are looking for a new member to join the Sample Environment and Detector Support (SEDS) team, operated by the Beamline Office at MAX IV Laboratory. Beamlines at MAX IV require extensive support for the installation of state-of-the-art detector technologies, and these complex detectors have to be procured, installed, commissioned, and maintained. We expect the successful candidate to take a leading role for hardware related support of different detector systems at the beamlines, set up structures and routines to ensure that we have the in-house knowledge to support, maintain and procure stat-of-the-art detector system. The work should be conducted in close collaboration with relevant expertise within the Controls & IT group (KITS) and the beamline staff to ensure that optimal solutions are implemented.


Tasks

  • Plan and partake in the installation & commissioning of the detectors, in collaboration with beamline teams and KITS.
  • Design and implement standards for detector commissioning and testing.
  • Take part in the detailed design and engineering of the detectors, in collaboration with suppliers and the MAX IV Engineering group.
  • Implement hardware triggering between detectors and control systems.
  • Plan and take part in service and maintenance for the MAX IV detectors. 
  • Take part in detector procurements and project supervision.

Qualifications

Required qualifications are:

  • Engineering degree, or a PhD in a subject relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrated experience with detectors and control systems at synchrotron radiation sources, preferably from more than one facility.
  • Experience in managing complex instrumentation projects in all stages: i.e. planning, design, construction, procurement, commissioning, operation & maintenance
  • Working knowledge of 3D-CAD/CAM software.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, being service minded, take initiatives as well as having the ability to cooperate with different teams and functions
  • Excellent command of English, well-developed communication skills and team working skills

 Additional desirable qualifications:

  • Experience in instrumentation for X-ray imaging, X-ray spectroscopy, or X-ray diffraction research.
  • Experience in procurement processes and good negotiation skills
