Description of the workplace

The research is led by Catharina Hagerling at the Faculty of Medicine and focuses on advanced cancer. The research aims to identify new treatment strategies for patients with metastatic cancer.

Work duties and area of responsibilities

Analyze spatial single-cell transcriptomics data from metastases. The work includes the following tasks:

  • Data formatting and curation: Standardize raw data formats and curate datasets to ensure compatibility and accuracy for analysis.
  • Exclusion of specific areas/cells: Identify and exclude irrelevant or outlier data areas/cells to focus the analysis on meaningful insights.
  • Data visualizations: Develop comprehensive visual representations of data analysis results to facilitate understanding and practical insights.
  • Immunophenotyping: Conduct detailed profiling of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment to understand immune system interactions and effects.
  • Niche analysis: Investigate microenvironments to reveal niche-specific dynamics and effects.
  • Cluster analysis and annotation: Perform cluster analysis to identify and comment on significant cell clusters and groupings in the data.
  • Segmentation improvement: Enhance data segmentation methods as needed to refine data quality, if necessary.
  • Cultivate cancer cells.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position:

  • Completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent in bioinformatics, computer science or biomedical sciences.
  • Experience in bioinformatics and cell culture.
  • Knowledge and experience in analyzing spatial single-cell transcriptomics data generated from the CosMx platform, Nanostring.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good collaboration skills.

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Experience with CRISPR
  • Experience in cell culture

Terms 

The position is a fixed-term employment for 100% with a start date of May 19 2025 or by agreement, but no longer than October 17 2025.
